To calculate pressure,we must take the force divided by the area to get the answer.Force is in newtons, area is in m2 and pressure is in pascal.According to research, the S.I unit for pressure was named after Blaise Pascal. He was a french mathematician,a philosopher noted for his experiments with a Barometer. A barometer is an instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure,an instrument to measure air pressure.

What we learnt is that if the area increases and the force ramains constant, the pressure will decrease.Likewise,if the area decreses and the force stays constant, the pressure will increase. For example the needle ,it would require less force if we use a sharper needle compared to a blunt needle.
